Privacy Policy

For the Navak app and service. Effective 11 August 2026.

What we keep

• The profile you set up: its name and emoji, whether it's for a kid or a grown-up, your host, language, subjects and music.
• What you've already heard, so your next show isn't a repeat.
• Your shows themselves, while they're yours to play.
• Your city, if you allow it — see below.
• Ordinary server records, including your IP address, for keeping the service running.

No phone number, real name or payment details — nothing in the app asks for them, and it never asks for an email address either. The only place we collect one is the waitlist form on this website, which is described below and is kept apart from all of the above.

What we never touch

Your contacts, photos, files, microphone and camera. There is no advertising, no advertising ID, and no analytics or tracking of any kind in the app. We never collect coordinates and never build a history of where you've been.

There's no account to make

No email, no password, nothing to forget. The app quietly makes an anonymous account for itself the first time you open it, and your phone vouches that this is really Navak — which is what stops anyone flooding us with fake accounts when there's no password to check. It can't be used to recognise you in another app or on a website.

Because nothing ties that account to you, there's no way to sign in to it from somewhere else: a new phone means a fresh start.

The waitlist on this website

This website has a form for people who want to know when Navak is ready. Fill it in and we store the email address you typed, a name if you chose to give one, and the date — nothing else. Not your IP address, not which pages you looked at, and nothing that would tie any of it to a profile or to an account in the app. We couldn't make that connection if we wanted to: the app never learns your address.

The name is optional and the form says so. It is there so the email we send can open with something better than "Hi there", and it is used for nothing else. Leave it empty and nothing is stored in its place.

We use it for exactly one message, telling you the app is out. It isn't a newsletter, it isn't given or sold to anyone, and it doesn't go to the providers who help make the shows. Once we've sent that message we delete the list. Ask us sooner — privacy@getnavak.com — and your address comes off it the same way.

Where you are

Allow location and your host can tell you the weather. It's the name of your city, never coordinates — used to make that one show, and deleted along with it. Say no, or turn it off later, and the show is made without it.

Who else sees it

Making a show takes a couple of specialist providers: one writes it, another reads it aloud. They get what the show needs — the kind of profile it's for, the host, your subjects, your mood, the time of day, and your city if you've allowed it. They don't get your profile name. Our network provider carries the traffic in and out. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

The show is made by a computer

Every word is generated automatically, so it can be wrong, out of date or simply odd — please don't take it as news reporting or as advice. Kid shows are held to a stricter brief, which is not a substitute for a grown-up within earshot.

Children

Navak isn't aimed at children under 13. A kid's profile is meant to be set up by a parent — and a first name or nickname is plenty, since nothing about the show depends on it being real.

How long we keep it

• Shows and their audio: deleted a few hours after you stop listening, and the city they were made for goes with them.
• Profiles and listening history: until you delete the profile.
• The anonymous account: until you ask us to delete it.
• Server records and backups: a short while, and 14 days respectively.
• A waitlist address, and the name with it: until we've written to you about the launch, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first.

Deleting it, and your rights

Delete a profile in the app and its history goes too. For everything, email privacy@getnavak.com — since there's no sign-up, we may need to ask which profiles are on your device so we delete the right account. Uninstalling on its own doesn't erase it.

You can also ask what we hold, have it corrected, or object to how we use it. We use it to make the show you asked for and to keep the service running safely, and nothing else. If we handle a request badly you can complain to your data protection authority — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Where it's kept

On our own machine in Canada, your shows included. The providers above may process what they receive elsewhere, including in the United States.

If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
